GERMAN PHILOLOGY – SECOND-CYCLE STUDIES
Germany is one of our neighbours, and it is also the largest group of national minorities in Poland, even having seats in the Sejm. It is therefore not surprising that Polish-German relations have a rich history and certainly an equally rich future. Choosing a second-cycle German philology course is therefore a good investment in the future, giving you numerous opportunities for employment and developing your hobbies.
FORM OF STUDY
We offer three modes of education in the field of German Studies of the second degree:
Full-time – learning on weekdays, on the premises of the universityPart-time – weekend meetings (Saturday, Sunday)Part-time (online studies) – all classes conducted using the e-learning platform.
Part-time first- and second-cycle studies are conducted using remote and distance work methods.

SPECIALIZATIONS
For the online and on-site master’s degree program in German Philology, we invite primarily graduates of first-cycle studies in the same field of study. Students will be able to choose one of four specializations.
Teaching
Ideal for people with pedagogical talent and willingness to teach. You will be able to share your passion for a foreign language with others. During your studies, you will significantly improve your language competences, and you will also expand your knowledge to include issues related to didactics, pedagogy and psychology, especially in the context of teaching. Thanks to this, you will get a job in schools of various grades and types, as well as in out-of-school institutions offering language courses or tutoring. The acquired qualifications are valid not only in Poland, but throughout the EU, so you can expand your business to other countries.
Translation
The profession of a translator is currently one of the best-paid, and people who know a foreign language to the extent that allows them to translate texts are sought after by employers in various fields. Specialist translators have a particularly good position on the market. With a view to your future career, we will help you become a master in translating texts on numerous areas of life, including technology, medicine, economics and the arts. You will also learn translations that require a light pen and a neat choice of words, from areas such as media or pop culture. You will learn what computer and online tools to use to make this work easier.
GRADUATE PROFILE
Graduates of the Master’s Degree in German Studies are people who:
- They have a C2 level of German, i.e. they are fluent in speaking and writing.
- They have professional qualifications in their chosen specialty.
- They have extensive university knowledge of the German language, both formally and structurally.
- They understand, translate and create specialist and loose texts on various areas of life.
- They are familiar with the history, culture and art of the peoples who communicate in German.
A second-cycle German Philology diploma means that you have a master’s degree in philology and can continue your education, e.g. in one of the diploma courses offered by ULT.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Graduates receive a master’s degree confirmed by a diploma of higher professional studies in the field of philology. The basis of teaching in the field of philology is the practical education of a foreign language, oriented towards its fluency, the richness of colloquial and specialist vocabulary.
The curriculum is complemented by subjects from an extensive block of courses in the field of field of study and general education, which are to equip ULT graduates with the knowledge and skills required by the modern labor market.
